Overview

Large sci-fi environments need many floor and ceiling panels, which suit procedural texturing in Substance Designer. This project builds three base materials and derives eight variants by adjusting node parameters, making it quick to assemble the base of a sci-fi scene.

The materials rendered in a scene.

Material 1: open floor with pipes

An open grating reveals a pipe layer beneath; frame, openings and wear are handled by separate node groups. Below: two variants, the output maps and the full node graph.

Material 2: metal panel with hazard stripes

A closed metal panel with hazard stripes, rivets and surface grime; moving the stripes by parameter produces the variants.

Material 3: dotted metal floor

A metal floor built around a dotted relief pattern, with a hazard stripe along the edge and layered wear and grime.
